Sebi the Colt: A New Life

The fifth book by Brandi L. McMahan is a collaboration with Kelley Grider Horton who brought the idea to Brandi in late 2020, a few months after the tragic loss of her daughter Ravann Horton and grandson Sebastian “Sebi” Lopez of Kill Devil Hills, NC.

Kelley’s idea of a young colt living on the shores of Corolla quickly came to life as a beautiful tale of a young reincarnated mustang colt and his raven mother living their next lives on the beautiful beaches of the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Sebi Lopez, his mother, and grandmothers had the opportunity to meet the mare and mustang parents of the colt that would be named after him a few months later in his honor.

This book is a wonderful tribute to Sebastian and his late mother, Ravann. It does an extraordinary job of depicting the relationship that they shared, and gives hope that their relationship lives on in their new life together.

Young readers and those that read along with them will enjoy the message this book sends that “Life sure can be beautiful, and sad all at the same time. But in the end, if we add up all of the good stuff, it would stretch as far as the horizon and beyond.”
